Chestatee Academy will host an informational meeting for parents who are interested in
making application to attend CA for the 2011-12 school year.
This meeting will take place Thursday, February 23rd, from 6:30 to 7:30 in the CA Media Center.
(Students living in the Chestatee district do NOT need to apply for admission!)
Chestatee Academy is a charter school and is, therefore, a program of choice that is open to any Hall County student. CA is dedicated to using inquiry, project-based learning to engage students in authentic projects guided by student interests. You can learn more about our school by exploring this website.
Everyone interested in hearing more about this innovative program is encouraged to attend. Applications are available in the front office or by clicking the button.
The deadline for applications is May 11th, 2012.

Charter for Us
As a charter school, we can fully implement the
Academies of Inquiry and Talent Development
, better known as SOAR.
In SOAR, our students are not divided by grade level or ability, but by common interests. During the week, these SOAR groups meet to engage in real-world problems. Through research and collaborative effort, these groups create products or services for a real audience. Examples of academies are "Grey's Anatomy," "Architecture," and "Dramatic Presentations."

These academies conclude with "
Night at the Museum
" in which students display their products and/or services. Parents and students, faculty and staff, and members of the community are invited to this celebration of our students' work.
What is A Charter
"A charter school is a public school that operates according to the terms of a charter, or contract, that has been approved by a local board of education and the State Board of Education. The charter school may request waivers from provisions of Title 20 of Georgia state law and any state or local rule, regulation, policy, or procedure relating to schools in the school district. In exchange for this flexibility, the charter school is bound by contract to be held accountable for meeting the performance-based objectives specified in the charter."

In plainer language, Hall County and the State of Georgia have agreed to allow us more freedom to meet the needs of our particular student population as we see fit. Also, we are eligible to apply for a grant to help us carry out our plan to meet our students' needs. In return, we have set goals for our students' performance and will be accountable to the state for meeting those goals.
We will continue to serve the students in the Chestatee district in the Hall County School System. Students outside the Chestatee district may apply for admission into Chestatee Academy.
